Molly Springs Alternative Learning Center students Stacy VanScoik of Randall and Jessica Kelly of Clarissa spent the week at the State Capitol during the 1999 Legislative Session working as interns for State Representative Mary Ellen Otremba.

Mark Johnson of Clarissa and Tom Godding of Browerville went to Canada to compete in the Gary Roach Pro-Am Tournament on August 13 and 14 in Minaki, Ontario. Johnson came home with the fifth place trophy and a cash prize of $1000. He is a very modest angler who said, “Even a blind chicken can feed once in a while.”

A deal was completed last Friday in which Mrs. Merle Benson sold the Clarissa Farm Service building business and her home to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Jasmer of Aldrich.

Thirty-five blood donors were listed at St. John’s Hospital during the month of August it was reported. Included in the 35 were eight from Long Prairie, 12 from Browerville, eight from Clarissa and four from Eagle Bend and three from other sources.
