September 8, 1999

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Colonial Terrace Apartments to be built adjacent to the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa was held on Wednesday, September 1, 1999. Present for the ceremony were Jan Trosvig, owner of All Building Corporation; Margi Taggart, administrator; board members, Vonda Hedlund, Larry Dickinson, Harold Woge; project manager for All Building Corporation, Greg Jacobson; board members, Druscilla Hinzmann, Glee Reierson, Dr. John Romstad and Architect Julie Rokke.

Gambling. Some curse it. Others enjoy it. But, whichever group you belong in, one thing is very obvious. Without local charitable gambling proceeds, a number of organizations would not be able to do what they do. Allen Bailey, manager of the Clarissa Lions Club’s charitable gambling, listed the contribution their club has provided. In one year, from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999, the Lions have contributed $45,147.

September 12, 1974

Burglars completely ruined one safe and jimmied another sometime Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning at the Clarissa Meat Market.

Bernard Schindler was hired as a full-time custodian at the Clarissa Public School at the monthly meeting of the board of education held last Monday evening in the office of the superintendent. Schindler’s salary was set at $2.25 per hour.
