25 Years Ago

November 24, 1999

On the night of November 16, Eagle Valley Teacher Ryan Tuorila had his home in Clarissa toilet papered, egged and there was also pudding. The same evening several teachers’ cars were egged while parked at the elementary school for parent teacher conferences. According to Chief Barber, several students showed up voluntarily the next day at Tuorila’s home and cleaned up the mess.

Eagle Bend’s plans to build a new fire hall have moved one step closer to becoming a reality. At the county commissioner’s November 16 board meeting, they accepted the city’s offer to purchase the former highway department shop. An appraiser had set the value for the shop at $10,000 plus $200 in fees. The Eagle Bend City Council made a counter offer of $1500 and to be able to utilize the county’s demolition dump at no charge as the building had to be demolished. The commissioners approved.


50 Years Ago

November 28, 1974

The Clarissa High School Choir, along with other outstanding mixed choruses from throughout the nation, will compete for honors and recognition at the second annual Six Flags Over Mid-America Choral Festival held in St. Louis, Missouri, April 25-26.
