The Clarissa Lions sponsored a Peace Poster Contest for the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Tara Dickinson’s poster took first place honors and was sent on to the district competition where her poster placed third. Tara received a $100 certificate for her work.

The Clarissa City Council opened three bids for a new fire truck. Forstner Fire Apparatus was the apparent low bidder at $160,717. Heiman Brothers, Inc. bid $166,417, and Clarey’s Safe Equipment, Inc. bid $182,500. The bids were turned over to the fire chief, Bob Cuchna, to review before the bid is awarded at the next meeting. The council plans to apply to Rural Development for a loan for the fire truck.

No Fault Insurance became law in Minnesota on January 1, 1975 requiring car owners to have insurance on their vehicles and imposing loss of driver’s licenses and vehicle licenses for persons who do not have such insurance.

The Clarissa Bucs Cagers captured the championship crown as conference champs last Friday night as they rolled over Swanville by a score of 68-54. Previous to the victory, the local team was assured of at least a share of the title, but with the win they hold the honor alone.
