Marci Marquardt, daughter of Mark and Kathy Marquardt of Clarissa, took first place in the Spelling Bee at Browerville High School on February 10. She is an eighth grader at Browerville High School. Marci advanced to the Regional Spelling Bee on March 2 at the Centennial Auditorium in Staples. She gained experience but will not be advancing to the next round of competition.

Al DeMeo is pictured with a pair of gas engines he has recently restored. The engine on the left is a three horse power 1920 Stover previously owned by Richard LaVoie’s grandfather. The engine on the right is a 10 horse power 1920 Fuller and Johnson with a 6 1/2” bore and 12” stroke. It is owned by Neil Anderson.

On Monday, March 3, Wayne Wendel began his duties as Chief County Probation Officer of Todd and Wadena counties. Wendel will be working with the Todd-Wadena County courts, supervising juveniles who have been placed on probation.

The Reverend David H. Behling will be installed as pastor of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Clarissa at eight o’clock on Sunday evening, March 16. He will also be installed as pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, March 16.
