Erik Michael Thorson has been named a recipient of the Marlin Perkins Scholarship, a program of the Mutual of Omaha’s Wildlife Heritage Center. The scholarship is named for the pioneer conservationist who was the host of “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” for many years. Thorson is receiving the $1000 scholarship through the University of Minnesota.

Bruce Nelson of Clarissa is currently attending Alexandria Technical College. He is a marine and small engine repair major. The State Competition was held on March 23, in the Twin Cities. Bruce received second place in the air-cooled engine class.

April 15, 1971
Todd County youngsters, age 14 and 15, are invited to participate in a tractor and machinery safety course, a continuous series of five weekly meetings on tractor operation and safety and machinery operation and safety to be held on April 27, May 6, May 11, May 18, and May 25 at the Browerville High School agricultural department room from 7:30-10:30 p.m. each evening.

The Clarissa Volunteer Fire Department members were summoned to their second call this year when they were called to the Fritz Thompson home on Monday, April 12.
