25 Years Ago

January 24, 1996

The Clarissa Lions Club made a donation to the Todd County Habitat for Humanity for $100. Brian Birk received the check. The Lions also made a donation of $35 to Amanda Weibye for the Miss Preteen Pageant.

Clarissa jumped to an impressive 8-0 lead Sunday night at Wadena, but the Chiefs’ bats got active in the third inning and took over momentum in the game. The host squad slowly ran away with the Hi-10 contest, 19-9, negating a chance for the visitors to gain their second consecutive league victory. Clarissa had nipped Perham in a makeup game Saturday, 6-5, gaining the squad’s first win.


50 Years Ago

June 10, 1971

Ellis McKindley, an active and prominent member of the Clarissa Post 213 of the American Legion, was elected vice commander of the Sixth District American Legion Department of Minnesota at its annual convention at Baudette last Saturday.

Dr. F.N. Grose, veteran medical doctor and surgeon in Clarissa since 1928, will be honored by the people of this community in a special “Dr. Grose Day” ceremony on Sunday, June 20.
