The city of Clarissa completed the sewer and water extension to seven new building lots in Carrick’s Addition in the northeast corner of town. R.L. Larson Excavating from St. Cloud is installing the sewer line on the $44,089 project.

Dennis Lunning brought home the first-place trophy in Class V of the State Horseshoe Tournament. He was 7-0 and shot 23 percent ringers to win the trophy. Gene Booker finished first in Class T, winning six matches and losing one. Jeff Virning, who also shoots in the Clarissa Horseshoe League, finished third in Class Z. The state tournament was held in Litchfield on Labor Day weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Volkmann, owners and operators of Custom Craft Sports and Marine, will hold their first-anniversary celebration this Friday and Saturday, September 10 and 11.

The Buccaneers won their season opener 8-0 over the Bertha-Hewitt Bears last Friday evening on the local field. The Bucs defense held the Bears at bay and forced them to throw the ball in the last half.
