Hilltop Auditorium to hold hot dish cook-off fundraiser

by Karin L. Nauber

You know we Minnesotans love our hot dishes! Well, Friday, June 17 is the perfect time for sponsors to show off their special hot dishes. All hot dishes will be cooked in a licensed kitchen.

There will be a hot dish cook-off fundraiser for the Hilltop Auditorium restoration project.

To get the event started at the Hilltop Regional Kitchen there will be a Book Talk featuring Jeanne Cooney from 4:15 p.m. until 5:15 p.m.

She is the author of the popular Hot Dish Heaven Mystery Series which includes titles like Hot Dish Heaven, A Second Helping of Murder and Recipes, and A Potluck of Murder and Recipes.

This part of the event is a Legacy event and is sponsored by the Eagle Bend branch of the Great River Regional Library.

After that from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., the hot dish cook-off contest will be held.

Come hungry, try the hot dishes, and help decide which one is the winner!

Being served along with the hot dishes will be salad, bread, rhubarb dessert/cake, juice, and coffee.

It’s a freewill offering to raise money for the former Eagle Bend School auditorium so bring your taste buds and your wallets!

Sponsors of the event are:

• Bertha Senior Center

• Clarissa Senior Center

• Eagle Bend Senior Center

• Griff’s Pizza

• Hilltop Regional Kitchen

• Todd County Council on Aging.

This is another part of the Hilltop project which began with the Hilltop Regional Kitchen. Plans are currently in the works for housing in the former Eagle Bend School along with the auditorium project.

Be a part of this historic project!

If you can’t be part of the upcoming event, you can always donate to the project by making a donation payable to the city of Eagle Bend which is handling the financial piece of the project.
