Housing steps continue in regional effort

Housing...
It has become an issue more and more in recent years.
The former Eagle Bend School has been a focus for a group of individuals who are intent on providing more rural housing options at a regional level.
On July 27, around 30 citizens met at the Eagle Bend City Hall to hear the most recent update on the Hilltop Regional Housing Campus (HRHC) project after the recent bonding bill language change.
“We appreciate Senator Paul Gazelka and Representative John Poston. Without their help the language change would likely not have been approved,” said HRHC Representative Sharon Notch.
The language change in essence was making the $1.5 million set apart for demolition of the former Eagle Bend School building available instead for construction/remodeling into housing.
Hundreds of people in the area signed petitions requesting the legislation to be changed as well as a presentation was made by HRHC Representative Jay Eckel. . .
