In Focus
It’s been a very long month, but the Christmas Light Show is finally done and ready to go!
This one was a bit of a struggle. Between my busy schedule and other needs, it took almost the entire month to get the light show set up in the yard and program the entire thing. I honestly didn’t know if I was going to make it in time for Thanksgiving, but I did, somehow.
This year I focused on the props, and cleaning them up. I had spent half of the summer painting seven plywood cutouts of reindeer and Santa in a sleigh, as well as repainting five blow molds. These took a fair bit of time as the only way to paint these is with spray paint, otherwise you see every brush stroke when they light up. It took a lot of paint stripper, and even more painting tape. I probably went through four large rolls.
That alone was pretty time consuming, not to mention repairs that had to be done to other props, mainly new lights. I also made mini trees for along the sidewalk. It was time for a change. This may be the best looking layout I have done so far. I’m pretty happy with it.
Now that it’s done I can get caught up on other stuff around the house, hopefully. I will be spending the weekend getting Christmas set up in the house and all 14 Christmas trees decorated. I know I’m crazy, but I like it.
The Christmas Light Show will begin at 5 p.m., Thanksgiving night, and continue through Christmas. The show will run until 9 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. All donations go to the Bertha Area Food Shelf. Hope to see you!
