In Focus

This past weekend was fantastic for so many reasons.

The weather was perfect to get outside and get the yard cleaned up. I cleaned up the garden beds and even got some of the plants in the ground that were getting way too big for their little cups.

I had to upgrade my fence to make it chew-proof—darn rabbits. I attached the old plastic fence to the clothesline in my yard. The plan is to have the morning glories grow across it.

And random pollinator seeds were planted in both gardens. I love chaos when planting stuff. I want things to grow everywhere.

Also, I can’t garden without growing my odd foods. The black tomatoes are back, with some lemon cucumbers, watermelon radish, orange watermelon, purple kohlrabi, cucamelons, ground cherries, Asian long beans, and multi-colored pumpkins along with the usual (normal) plants I grow. What’s the fun in gardening if you can’t grow weird stuff?

Another great addition to the weekend was the aurora borealis peaked, and I took some pics on my phone. It’s been some time since I’ve seen the reds and yellows in the sky like that. It was a fantastic sight, and I am glad we didn’t have clouds covering the sky for once so we could actually see it.

It was also the perfect weekend for a bonfire—our first of the season. All the neighbors came over, and we drank and laughed well into the morning hours. It was a fantastic night.

Hopefully, the nice weather will stick around this weekend so that I can clean the car and garage. The garage is a scary place right now. There are random cords and light show stuff chucked here and there. I need to get it organized because I’m going to need the room for some projects I have planned.
