In Focus
It’s officially fall!
It may be my favorite time of the year, but I’m not ready for cooler weather yet. I have watermelons, cantaloupe, and honeydew, and I am still waiting for them to ripen. I’d be happy to get a finished melon out of the garden, not to mention the many herbs I still need to pick.
I’m excited. I have pumpkins growing, so I want to see how big they’ll get. I also have a couple of mini gourds. I have a classic orange-looking one, a reddish one, and a green warty-looking one so far. It’s exciting for me to see them grow.
The deer, on the other hand, decided to mow through the gardens. Why they chose to eat all the random leaves on the plants they could is beyond me. I hope the plants survive long enough to finish out the season. The damage the deer do is getting worse, and I live in town! Next year we will have to make taller fences. Sigh.
I finally got the giant Halloween decorations out of the garage, and I can clean it and get organized. But then it hit me...October is next week...and I started panicking!
I finally finished my prop projects, but with October being right around the corner, I am nowhere near ready for the Halloween light show. It’s going to be a long week of pulling things out of the basement and programming the show itself. I’m hoping I will be able to get everything ready by Monday.
I will also need to decorate inside the house. And that will take some time...
Then, I can relax and enjoy spooky movie season, warm beverages, and apple and pumpkin treats....
