In Focus
I’m sad to see Halloween end, but Mariah Carey is creeping around the corner heralding in Christmas.
As usual, I spent the weekend taking Halloween down in the yard and putting up Christmas. I do this to avoid decorating in the cold and decorating after the ground freezes. So, the Christmas display may be up, but it will not be lit until Thanksgiving.
This should give me enough time to finish programming the show to the new layout. I like to move things around so you don’t see the same thing every year, even if it’s just a few things. I still have some details and the inflatables to add, but I got most of it outside so the hard part is done.
As usual, the house gets destroyed during the transition. Granted, the big Christmas decorations were set up in the garage beforehand to make the swap easier, and doing it while the temperatures were good makes life easier. The living room is still a mess with leaves and dirt all over the floor. And we still have the Halloween decorations inside to pack up and put away. But we’ll get there...eventually.
So, we have this strange combination of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas in the house. It’s always a fun time of year with the chaos of holiday decorations, but in the end, it’s worth it. Some of you think I’m insane due to the lengths I go to decorate inside and out, but it makes me happy. It’s probably because I hate it when it gets dark at 5 p.m., and the ambient glow of Christmas lights is cozy.
Happy decorating!
