In Focus
Thanksgiving is behind us, and I saved all my money by not shopping on Black Friday.
As a former retail worker, I know that no deal is good enough for me to go Black Friday shopping. I would rather sleep the day away, thank you very much. Deals just are not as great as they used to be. And there is always that one toy everyone wants and will fight their way to get it before the ones on the store shelves are all claimed. I can easily pass on the whole day.
Instead, I stay home in my comfy clothes and decorate the inside of the house for Christmas. All I have left is some cleanup and final touches, but I think it’s safe to say it is done. And the last of the small Christmas trees upstairs are assembled and done—14 total. Why? Because I can. The small trees include a two-foot red one with red lights, red ornaments, and a red tree skirt that goes in my red bedroom. A small one-foot silver tree with red and green ornaments is needed for my office. There are two realistic-looking trees, one decorated with long silver ornaments and the other in shades of pink. And yet another is the fiber optic tree.
The holiday weekend was nice to mostly have a break from work, clean and decorate the house, and just binge-watch some anime.
The light show is going with a couple of extra songs this year. Everything is off to a good start this holiday season. I think it’s safe to say we have already received more snow than we did all last winter. We knew it was coming after such a mild winter last year.
While I’m never a fan of cold, snow, and darkness at 5 p.m., it’s tolerable during the holidays with the colorful glow of Christmas lights reflecting off the snow. It’s pretty.
I know the snowmobilers and ice fishermen will be happy with the snow and are wishing for more, but I will stay inside, in the warmth, and just play until spring.
Stay warm and enjoy the holiday season!
