In Focus
It has been a busy week for me. Previously, I had water damage from a leak, and the chimney needed to be removed. Well, that finally happened!
Thankfully it was knocked down and patched up before the rain hit or I would be looking at a lot more water damage. It was kind of fun to have a little skylight for about an hour.
The next day and a half were spent cleaning and sealing the damage inside my bedroom. The holes and exposed lathe are finally gone! I just had to wait a few days before I could touch it. While I waited, I painted the rest of my bedroom.
I have been itching to paint my room all summer. Now that I had figured out what I wanted for a theme and colors, I just had to wait. In the meantime, I was working on painting my furniture to match the room. I still have a few pieces left to paint, as well as my bedroom and closet doors. I hope to finish that in the next couple of weeks.
My Gothic Victorian vision is coming out better than I hoped. I painted my walls bright red, ceiling too, and painted the trim black. I had to heavily prime the walls to get rid of the multi-shade of pink stripes.
Knowing red is a tricky color to work with, and I have a larger bedroom, I bought four gallons of paint. I ended up using two but will have to open the third to finish up the corner. It does pay to buy quality paint. I will have a full, unopened gallon left over.
I had managed to move everything out of the room except my bed and dresser. I bought some furniture moving pads for the dresser and they worked great to slide the dresser around. The only problem I had was the lever slipped out when I lifted the corner to grab the pads and it fell on my thumb. So far the nail seems fine. The tip of my thumb has little red spots and it’s sore. I guess we will have to wait and see if I lose the nail or not.
I also scratched my ankle on a different dresser we moved upstairs. Otherwise...after all the moving furniture, cleaning and painting...I am just generally sore.
But...I am so happy to finally get my room painted!
