In Focus
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!
I got a cold for Christmas. I tend to get one every year. The timing wasn’t all bad though. Luckily, it was a slower week for me and I didn’t have to go anywhere.
On New Year’s Eve, I fell asleep at 8:30 p.m. and woke up the next day close to 10 a.m. I can’t recall the last time I’ve slept so much. It’s rare for me to fall asleep before 11:30 p.m.
On New Year’s Day, I stayed in bed all day and watched TV. I can’t remember the last time I just stayed in bed and did nothing. It was kind of nice to just relax and not worry about anything for once.
On Sunday, most of my energy returned and the house was cleaned and sanitized. That night, the pin on the bathtub faucet broke so I was forced to take a bath instead of a shower. That turned out to be just what I needed. I took it as a sign from the universe I just needed to relax.
I’m so used to constantly running and doing something that I never really just relax. It’s something I need to start doing more often. I think I just wore myself out from the craziness of the holidays. I should know better by now with my weakened immune system that I need to take better care of myself before my body forces me to crash. It also takes me longer to recover. All thanks to my Crohns.
I’d say I’m nearly recovered after about a week and a half of this sickness crap. Knowing me, it’ll take me a while to get back to full strength.
This has been a good reminder that sometimes we just need to slow down and relax before we are forced to.
