Jon Barber is chief deputy

Todd County Sheriff Mike Allen has appointed his chief deputy who is Jon Barber of Clarissa.

Barber’s primary focus right now is to improve morale and hire more staff to ensure areas are covered for public safety. He is modeling his position from the former administration he looked up to in the past.

“It’s kind of our philosophy to be kind and decent to people and our staff,” said Barber.

He was a school liaison officer for Bertha-Hewitt and Browerville schools for the last year and a half.

“I loved being in the schools and working with kids. I was sad to go,” shared Barber. “I couldn’t pass on an opportunity to advance.”

Barber had a hectic first week learning his administrative role. . .
