The monthly meeting of the Verndale Senior Citizens was held on February 1 with Valentine’s Day-themed treats and a special guest to teach the seniors how to knit...without needles.

Kendra Schumacher works as a funeral director in Wadena. In her spare time, she taught herself hand knitting by watching YouTube videos. She uses only her hands and chunky yarn to make beautiful, and soft, blankets and pillows.

Each senior was given a skein of chunky yarn to use as they learned this unique way of knitting.

Schumacher also brought in a golden queen size blanket to show the audience what they could make with this technique. . .
