Lady Pirates fall to Nevis Tigers in season opener: Defeat the Staples-Motley Cardinals

The Verndale Pirates Girls Basketball Team opened their season with a 47-48 loss to the Nevis Tigers.

The Pirates jumped out to an early lead, but the Tigers moved the ball and hit open three-pointers to take a first-half lead.

As the first half ended, Keara Kern hit a jumper to put the Pirates up 25-24.

The second half was back and forth with the Pirates taking a 4 point lead with 50 seconds remaining, but the Nevis Tigers were able to score the final 5 points. . .
