Lape is new Five Wings Art Council executive director

by Debra Meyer-Myrum
The Five Wings Art Council recently hired a new executive director, Miranda Lape. Her background includes nonprofit grant making, program management and communications.
Lape grew up in Fergus Falls where she was blessed to be immersed in the arts beginning at a young age. She was involved in theatre, a high school youth grant program and other various art forms. Her biggest love was theatre, but she also dabbled in writing, sculpting and stained glass.
When she moved away from the Fergus Falls area, she found that the arts opportunities were limited. Thus, began her passion to get involved in the arts and she was eventually hired at the Five Wings Art Council.
Executive Director Goals
Lape was inspired to take on the executive director role because she had grown to love and appreciate funding the arts and she knew she could be instrumental in connecting people to the arts.
Her main goals are to provide daily opportunities for artists and the general public to have access to the arts. She will continue to promote the benefits of the arts in our communities.
Her long-term impact through her leadership will be that the area communities will grow stronger and she will always strive for improvement to make something better then it was.
Outside of work, she enjoys writing, dancing, reading, community theater, growing tomatoes, spending time with her spouse and children, and organizing other people’s linen closets.
Economic and Community Development
The arts play a part in our economic and community development. The art council will begin renewing the strategic plan this spring. The plan will identify ways to foster connections with other art organizations, resources, artists and residents....
