Letter to the Editor
To the Editor:
As many of you know, the American Legion Auxiliary of Clarissa held their annual Poppy Day in Clarissa on May 10. The citizens of Clarissa and the surrounding area should give yourself a “pat on the back.”
Because of your generous donations, the Auxiliary is able to help many of our program and organizations in the surrounding area. The Auxiliary keeps none of the donations received.
Some of the donation received will go to the following:
• Wreaths for the Fallen, Camp Ripley
• Legionville, Brainerd-School Patrol Learning Center
• Fisher House-Provides a “home away from home” to Veterans and Military families receiving specialized VA care at military medical centers
• Armed Forces Center-the center offers traveling military a place to relax, etc. staffed by volunteers
• Forgotten Children-Department of Human Services, used for children in licensed foster homes and/or group homes
• $5 Bill Shower-Every Veteran in the VA Homes and Hospitals receive a cash gift during the holiday season
• Eagles Healing Nest
Memorial Day is May 27 with programs starting at 9 a.m. at the Clarissa City Park. (See front page for full schedule.)
Remember to “Thank a Veteran”!
