To the Editor:
Keep in mind the extension building in Wadena, although owned by the county, was paid for by fundraising and donations.
After some discussion the county board agreed to contribute $100,000 to expand that building to create an event center that will benefit 4-H and other youth organizations. That would be a good thing.
What I find puzzling is that the same board voted to reduce a contract with the University of Minnesota by 50%, which will result in a part-time extension agent going forward. So much for the youth.
Relevant fact is that almost 70% of the county tax capacity lies in our rural townships.
