The Bertha-Hewitt Business Professionals of America (BPA) Presentation Management team, which consisted of Jill Samuelson, Erica Rach and Nicker Willhelmi, took first place at the state secondary conference. The contests were held March 13-15 at the Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis. This was Bertha-Hewitt’s fourth state champion and first-team champion in its nine-year existence.

The Bertha Lions Club working with the Bertha Centennial Committee has been working on an Afghan since October. According to Beth Selvey, vice president, the committee who is working on the afghan gathered pictures representing Bertha’s past to Bertha’s present for the afghan.

The first showing of Milady’s Easter Bonnet was delayed this week when a snowstorm hit the area Saturday afternoon after 24 hours of rain, which gave evidence Mother Nature has misread the calendar, giving the community a White Easter instead of the usual green. Easter morning found the ground covered with six inches of wet snow.

The April 1 meeting of the Wm. Larson Post of the American Legion was very well attended. A delicious lunch of sandwiches, cake, pickles and coffee was served by Lawrence Nelson, Ralph Walker and Fred Johnson. Mrs. A.S. Olson of the Veteran’s Service gave an interesting talk following the regular meeting.
