Beth Selvey and Gary Kleen, of the Bertha Lions, handed Band Director Ken Nelson a check for $2000 to help the marching band with their expenses on their trip to Alaska. Selvey and Russ VanDenheuvel are pictured with a storage shed donated and built by the Lions Club for the Head Start program in Bertha.

Want a $100 in Bertha Bucks? Well, keep your eyes open then because the Bertha centennial medallion is worth that much to its lucky finder. The hunt for the medallion begins July 7 with the clues being posted at Bertha businesses all week. There will be a centennial quiz with a deadline of 3 p.m. on Friday, July 11. The results will be announced during the Centennial Style Show, Talent Show and Beard Contest.

July 3, 1947
Mr. and Mrs. Phil Sundquist and daughters were honored at a picnic at the Hewitt Park by the Church of God congregation. The Sundquist family, who are leaving Bertha this week to make their new home at Forest Lake, was presented with a lovely gift.

A large group of friends surprised Mrs. Carrie Current at her home Saturday afternoon, for her birthday. The afternoon was spent socially followed by a picnic lunch served to the guests. Mrs. Current was presented with an electric toaster and other gifts and cards of congratulations.
