Are you looking for that special something for a special someone for Christmas or just like to have some fun? Then tune your radio to KSKK at 94.7 FM on December 1 from 7-10 p.m. The Bertha-Hewitt Dollars for Scholars is again hosting its annual radio auction for the scholarship fund. A wide variety of items will be available from gift certificates to a queen-sized quilt. The items to be sold will be on display at the First National Bank of Bertha/Verndale in Bertha prior to the sale.

Under the direction of Ken Nelson, the Bertha-Hewitt Marching Band held its annual Indoor Marching Band Concert on Saturday, November 22. A variety of songs were performed as well as a dance routine by Madison Aeling, a presentation was given by the football cheerleaders and a feature by the Flag and Rifle Corp. The band members also presented a slide/video presentation of their trip to Alaska.

Several trees in the park in Bertha were lit up on Sunday, November 23 during the first annual Christmas Tree Lighting for Bertha. Several people braved the cold weather to take part in the caroling. After singing, participants gathered in the old city hall for hot cider, coffee and cookies.

Gene Greenwaldt was honored on Tuesday, November 18 on his retirement from the postal service.
