February 11, 1998

John Peters was recently elected to a three year term on the East Otter Tail Farm Service Agency County Committee. John will join Alvin Finn of Hewitt and Betty Werner of Perham on the committee for 1998. They are elected by county farmers to act as the local authority and oversee federal farm programs.

The following students placed in the Freshwater Science Fair held in Browerville on February 4 and 5: Amanda Lipinski, fourth grade research, first place; Michael Riewer, fourth grade experiment, grand champion; Nathan Haase, fourth grade experiment, first place; Brittany Zutter, fifth grade research, first place; Matthew Colby, fifth grade experiment, grand champion; Aaron Johnson, fifth grade experiment, second place; and Jason Sieling, sixth grade research, second place.

The B-H Girls Basketball had a busy schedule playing three games this past week. The Bears were able to beat Sebeka to improve their PRC record to 4-3. Battle Lake and Wadena/Deer Creek were able to overcome the Bears early leads which gave the Bears a 8-10 record at the end of the week. The Bears came out against Battle Lake shooting very well. Jenna Schaefer lead the Bears with 12 points in the quarter.

The first graders made and ate 100 pancakes in honor of the 100th day of school that has been in session this year. The first graders read the book The Wolf’s Chicken Stew and got the idea for the 100 pancakes. The second graders brought in their collections of 100 things to celebrate the 100 days of school in session.
