25 Years Ago

June 10, 1998

Miss Wadena, Jill Samuelson, performed for an audience at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wadena on Tuesday, June 2. She sang her talent selection and modeled the clothing she will be wearing during the Miss Minnesota Scholarship Program in Austin June 14-20.

The Bertha-Hewitt Marching Band will kick off their 1998 summer season with the Summerfest parade held in Fergus Fall on Saturday, June 13, beginning at 6 p.m. The B-H Band is excited to present a new show this summer to a song called “Americana”. The Medley of Anchors Aweigh/Dixie/Battle Hymn was written for the B-H Band earlier this spring.


50 Years Ago

June 10, 1948

Dr. W.W. Will will be one of three to be honored on Alumni Day at the University of Minnesota. The three are receiving acknowledgment of their accomplishments which have brought honor to their alma mater. The University’s “Build of the Name” medal was established by the Board of Regents. Dr. Will was recently nominated by the Minnesota State Medical Association as an outstanding general practitioner. He has practiced in Bertha continuously since graduation in 1905.

The Hi-Flyers 4-H Club met Sunday afternoon in Kohlhase’s Park to organize their kittenball team of the 4-H rally being held in Long Prairie. There will be another practice next Sunday.
