“There is no objection to the use of electric lighting for ornamental or decorative purposes within the home at Christmas holiday time,” said A. H. Herbert, division manager of the Minnesota Power and Light Co. “Interior lighting for decorative purposes at holiday time actually does not require very much, if any extra electricity, because generally other lighting is reduced.”

Bob Schwantz was named to the All State Six Man Football Squad. Bob got a good send-off in the Sunday edition of the Minneapolis Star when Ted Peterson wrote “Minnesota’s 1948 all-state six-man football team includes perhaps the largest player to ever receive such an award. He is Robert Schwantz of Bertha, 245 pounds and six feet, 4 1/2 inches tall. During his five years playing for Bertha the team only lost two games. Schwantz is the fasted man in the Bertha squad. He is called the most outstanding football prospect this area has ever produced and apparently is destined for the University of Minnesota.
