The Bertha-Hewitt Drama Club will present Fireside Chats on Thursday, April 29, through Saturday, May 1. The play, written by Director Tim Hjelmeland and his students, is based on the area’s history. Stories from over 50 senior citizens will briefly be told during “Postcards from the Past”. The history of the clean joke will be shared by four stand-up comics—Andrea Ashbaugh, Barry Kuhnke, David Adam and Kim Johnson.

The FFA dairy team members who will go to state later this month are: Zane Packard, Darrin Eggert, Lee Current, Lucas Sand and Nick French.

April 7, 1949
The April meeting of the Women’s Club was held Monday evening at the schoolhouse with chairman Miss Lucille Manus in charge. The theme of the meeting was “Women and Men of Minnesota”. The seventh grade presented original skits telling something about the history and men of early Minnesota. They were under the supervision of Miss Clare Bishop, Norma Harms, Kathryn Cornell, Allen Cornell and Vernon Harms played the piano.

At the state speech contest held at the University of Minnesota, Robert Schwantz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Schwantz, won a superior rating with his original oration, “Are We Democratic?” He won the right to compete at state by winning at the district and regional contests.
