Pictured are the Hewitt Centennial Committee members modeling the Centennial t-shirts and caps which are available at the Hewitt Co-op Grocery Store and Bits ‘N Pieces. They are also displaying windsocks (which are available where shirts are sold) and the Hewitt Centennial Book which is available from the Hewitt Historical Society.

Odyssey of the Mind participants wrote their own scripts and made their props for their plays. The subject of the plays was money. The two groups of kindergarten, and first and second grade students presented their plays to friends and family on Tuesday, May 18. The students were coached by Jody Lunemann.

June 2, 1949
Commencement exercises for the Hewitt graduating class of 1949 was held at the community hall. The members were Forrest Snakenberg, Pat Hastreiter, Jack Dull, Billy Pageen, Mary Kolodji, Leona Klinker, Marvel Baumgartner, Leora Budahn and Alice Branstner.

The Bertha Commercial Club announced plans for summer programs for Saturday evening that will continue into August. These include band concerts, a German band evening, amateur nights and choral groups. Large crowds spend Saturday evenings in Bertha.
