Randy Pitcher and Craig Williams hosted a pasture walk on Friday, June 25, at their farm. Their farm, which they call C & R Grazers, is located southwest of Bertha. They milk 109 cows on their 235 acre dairy farm using a New Zealand style “Swing 16” milking parlor.

The First National Bank of Bertha-Verndale will be accepting donations of cash, clothing and household items for Deward Greenwood. Greenwood’s home was destroyed by fire during the morning of Wednesday, June 22. The Bertha Fire Department responded to the call. Bertha Fire Chief Bruce Sellnow stated, “Half of the roof is gone and all the windows were out when we arrived at the scene. The house was a total loss.” No one was home at the time of the fire and the cause is unknown. Clothing, household items and food can be dropped off at the bank.

The Ladies Aid of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will hold a food sale in the office of the Domian Farm Supply Company on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. Baked goods of all kinds will be sold.

A family reunion in the Hewitt Park on Sunday, honoring the Eickermans of Spokane, Washington, included the Kotz, Matters and Baumgartner families of this vicinity.
