Blue prints were posted along the walls of the family and consumer science room last Wednesday evening. Some of the blue prints showed the interior floor plan of the school’s new addition. Others showed what the building will look like from the outside. Bob Rego of Abenroth, Rego and Youngquist Architects met with the Bertha-Hewitt School Board in a special meeting to discuss final plans for the school addition.

Beth Blashack, Woodside Workers 4-H’er, exhibited the Reserve Champion Jersey cow during 4-H Weekend at the Minnesota State Fair. She was one of more than 2200 exhibitors.

Bertha-Hewitt has three new teachers this year. Nancy Erickson will be the Special Education-EBD instructor. Jurene Carlson is the every other day kindergarten and elementary keyboarding teacher. Mike Bauck will teach business education.

Trooper Andy spoke to the Bertha-Hewitt Elementary students on Thursday about crosswalk safety. He also swore in the school’s newest batch of safety patrol members. This year’s school safety patrol members are sixth graders: Martin Braaten, Jasper Oyster, Beth Berg Peterson, Ashley Sullivan, Megan Roller, Amber Bertram, Joanne Iliff, Cassie Eagner, Nathan Haase, Darcy Horn, Kelsey Stach, Aaron Templin, Jocelynn Buchholz, Cody Graphenteen, Adam Freyholtz, Tina Myrum, Heather Bakken and Timothy Blanchard. Captains are Ashley Kuyava and Michael Riewer.
