The Wm. Larson Post 366 Legion and Auxiliary met September 7 for the membership dinner. Boy Staters Ben Hagen and Lee Current, alternate, and Girls Stater Amanda Reichert reported on their week at St. Olaf and Bethel Colleges from June 13-19. Nine legion members were present at the meeting conducted by Commander Melvin Sagehorn. Adjutant Harold Goepferd read the minutes and Raymond Eiswald gave the financial report.

Pictured are Chris and Ralph Judd who sat with Bill Shaw at the tailgater before the storm hit and delayed the football game against Osakis. Arnette and Mike Kneisl also enjoyed hot dogs at the tailgater before the game on Friday, September 3. It was the first tailgater of the season. The game was continued on Monday, September 6.

The first Bertha Women’s Club meeting of the year was held at the home of Mrs. Ray Foster with 29 present. The meeting opened with the group singing. Monthly programs were set under the topic “Life in these United States.” They include: Minnesota Legends; the Negro in Minnesota; Centennial Party; Women in Our Government; Indian Contributions to American Culture, Famous Churches of America and Interesting Groups of the United States. Officers are Mrs. Myrlen Ahrendt, president; Mrs. Ray Foster, vice president; Mrs. Eunice Bluhm, secretary; and Mrs. L.H. Cary, treasurer.

The Todd County Rural Youth held its regular monthly meeting in the Bertha High School auditorium along with an amateur talent show. At the meeting, Verna Cluever, Bertha Thompson, Arwin Lippert and Art Pratt were nominated to represent the group at the rural youth training meeting in Fergus Falls.
