25 Years Ago

October 6, 1999

Moving from the metropolis of Duluth and Minneapolis to the city of Bertha was an exciting change for Sue Woelfel, the new manager of the Bertha All Star Service. Woelfel and her husband, Kurt, who works at Northland Dairy in Eagle Bend, moved to the Bertha area two years ago from Minneapolis.

Bertha Mayor Don Booen signed a proclamation designating October 3-9 as 4-H Week. Also pictured are 4-H’ers Andrea Davenport and Beth Blashack who were present for the signing.

50 Years Ago

June 2, 1949

The 25th anniversary celebration of the Todd County League of Women’s Clubs will be held at the Methodist Church in Long Prairie on October 8 with the Bruce Study Club as hostess. The Bertha Women’s Club will be featured in a skit “In Old Fashioned Clothes” in which they will be dressed in costumes worn in the days gone by.

Last week was full of surprises for Henry Lambert of Bertha. On Sunday afternoon his brother, Fred of Valdez, Alaska, who he had not seen in 37 years dropped in to pay a visit. With him were their two sisters, Mrs. Ida Goeperd of Kirkland, Washington and Mrs. Lyal (Selma) of Portland, Oregon.
