January 5, 2000

It was a somewhat disappointing tournament for the Bears as they finished in third place this past week. In the first round the Bears were defeated by Brandon-Evansville 58-52 in overtime. The team came back the next night to rip the Osakis Silverstreaks 66-36 to capture third place. Going into the Christmas break the Bears have a 4-2 record.

The Todd County American Dairy Association is searching for candidates for the 2000 Todd County Dairy Princess. All interested “Todd County Dairy Farm Girls” are encouraged to enter the competition. Potential candidates are asked to contact any Todd County ADA Board Member or the contact person in their community.

January 5, 1950

Bertha hit a new high in Christmas Seals sales this season with a total of $384.75 taken in from the village and surrounding area.

Six new members were elected to the Board of Directors of the Bertha-Hewitt Sportsman’s Club. Newly elected are Buster Cary, Herbert Schaefer, Harold Wood, Harry Luitjents, Arthur Lange and Wayne McIntire. They will replace Harold Dull, Vern Young, Otto Haase, Elmer Leyh, Bill Cary and C.B Will. Present board members are Lyle Rounds, president; George Schroeder, Homer Pratt, Renold Aldrich, Vern Captain and George McAllister.
