The Bertha Ambulance Service received a donation of $5000 from Tri-County Hospital and the Bertha Medical Clinic. Matt Yelle and Diane Henry, PA-C are shown presenting the check to Bertha Ambulance Service representatives Gary Kleen and Galen Schultz. The donation will be used to enhance the new Bertha ambulance fund drive.

Mayor Don Booen introduced Kevin Diedrich to the council members. Diedrich is one of the four applicants that applied for the police/liaison officer position with the city of Bertha and the Bertha-Hewitt School. Dennis Zimmerman made the motion to offer a contract for employment to Diedrich. The motion was seconded by Ken Ashbaugh. The motion carried.

Friends and neighbors came to the aid of Myrten Wegner whose farm home, seven miles west of Bertha, was destroyed by fire last Thursday. On Monday, a shower was held for the couple at the District 55 school. About 80 people were present and the Wegners received an assortment of gifts and a purse of over $125. Members of St. John’s Lutheran Church are sponsoring a donation of gifts to which anyone can contribute.

Bertha Home Ec girls will display their work at the Olson and Quanbeck Store. Those to display are Donna Haase, Joy Taylor, Gloria Truax, Devonna Gruber, Marvelyn Anderson, Wanda Wegner, Lonna Swenson, Barbara Harlow and Myrthle Gadbow.
