At the February 7 Hewitt City Council meeting, Mayor Steve Peterson told the council members the youth center building and property had been sold to Ken Hendershot. The building is being remodeled into a new bar and will soon include a game room in the back of the building for the youth in Hewitt and the surrounding area. Juanita Mitchell and Jim Walker will have a meeting with Hendershot to discuss the game room.

The naming of necessary committees has given impetus to the plan for the people of the community for the coming entertainment March 17-19 of about 40 foreign students studying at the University of Minnesota. The students will arrive Friday afternoon and visit the school and then be met by the many families who will house the students for the weekend before returning to the Twin Cities Sunday afternoon. Many activities are being planned for the weekend.

The Hewitt Cooperative Creamery Association held its annual meeting on February 14. The association plans to sell the gasoline service station. The annual 1/2 cent levy on every pound of butterfat sold by patrons to the creamery will end. The amount has been deducted from the cream checks and placed toward the purchase of shares in the association. Lawrence Christianson and Gordon Bower were elected to replace Bill Kern and Art Meinhardt on the board.
