Hewitt resident Darrell Simpson presented a letter received from District Traffic Engineer Donald Raisanen of the Baxter DOT regarding public safety at the T.H. 71 and T.H. 210. The engineer said a second flashing yellow light will be activated to provide more emphasis on the T.H. 71 driver to watch for the intersection. They will remove and realign certain signs at the intersection and change the striping on T.H. 210 to encourage drivers to ‘square up’ at the stop sign. Later in the summer the intersection will be changed to a four-way stop.

Jesse Ahlers of rural Bertha is pictured putting the final touches on his shiny 1950, 1200 cc Harley Davidson. The bike had been completely restored and was offered for sale at his father’s auction on March 30. The Harley brought in a bid of $13,000, but was not sold. Ahlers says he has “more than that in it”.
