Mike Blom retired 12 of the first 14 batters he faced that included two double plays by the Bears. Parkers Prairie scored two runs in the top of the seventh on a pass ball and a throwing mistake. The Bears scored one run in the bottom of the seventh when Paul Amundson scored on a wild pitch after leading off with a double and advancing to third. The Bears stranded two runners in the bottom of the seventh.

John Neal, 34, was sentenced to the state prison on Friday afternoon. The sentence may extend from 14-60 years at Stillwater. He had been indicted by a grand jury for first-degree murder in the fatal slaying of Elling Sampson of Bertha on August 9, 1944.

Harold Hansen of Eagle Bend, driver of a truck loaded with lumber and feed, was injured in a collision on Main Street in Bertha with the afternoon passenger train. Local doctors felt his injuries were not serious. The accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. when the afternoon train, heading south, struck the cab of the truck and turned the heavily loaded vehicle completely over.
