The owner or editor of the Browerville paper was one of the people who I stopped as a “Flag Person” on County Road 14 road construction. He said one afternoon he would like to do an article on me. So one evening I (Fred Feltman Jr.) wrote this article for him. Being a Flag Person is a lonely job-just like living alone. In a little over two months I have been to five counties. Most of the time in Todd, but also Lac Qui Parle, Yellow Medicine, Blue Earth and Watanwan. I have worked with three different crews, the milling crew, the hot tar crew and the grading crew.

A proposal by Todd County Board of Adjustment (BOA) Chairman Jim Lunemann to educate the public on the BOA’s functions was accepted by county commissioners. “We need to begin to reduce the tension and negative impact for the public and begin a process of proactivity,” Lunemann told the commissioners. The BOA interprets county land use ordinances and issues variances.

The Browerville OTW league ball club invaded the Osakis ball park on Sunday afternoon-with the mercury at a sizzling 100-the local gang pounded 3 Osakis pitchers for a total of 29 hits, which is six more than the Long Prairie team got off the Browervill pitches at the county seat on August 3.

With the issuing of the new telephone directory, the company calls attention to the importance of calling by number. There are still a number of subscribers who persist in calling by name instead of number. This slows the service they receive and also the service of the entire exchange. —Long Prairie Telephone Co.
