No decision was reached by the Todd County Commissioners on a grievance that was presented at their board meeting. Two employees of the treasurer’s office, Gayle Wolf and Millie Marcyes, are each requesting $1540 in back wages to 1994. Joanne Derby, a representative of the employee’s union, told commissioners the county’s comparable worth committee lowered their salary grade level in 1991, without notifying the treasurer's office. Wolf discovered this change when she retired in July after 20 years with the county. Her position as Deputy Treasurer II was posted at the same level as a clerk typist’s position,.

At about 7:30 late Monday morning a plane was forced to the ground on the Old Hart Farm, five miles northeast of Browerville, which is now occupied by the Woodrow Lines family. The plane was piloted by Bob Dennehay of Sioux City, Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Dennehay of Staples. He was forced to land because of a heavy fog making for poor visibility. Young Dennehay was on his way home to visit his parents at Staples. In attempting to land, the plane wheels hit the ground, bounced ahead with the propeller digging a furrow which made the plane turnover just once. It landed on its top side with wheels in the air. The pilot escaped with little injury while the plane was quite badly smashed.
