The Minnesota State Special Olympics Organization announced the selection of Miss Kimberly Porwoll as the State Volunteer of the Year for 1997. Each year one individual is honored by the state organization for their personal effort and support given to Special Olympics and the state program as well as their athletes. Porwoll was honored at the annual MSO banquet held on Saturday, September 20, at the Radisson Conference Center at Plymouth. Her nomination came from Area 5 Director Carol Holten.

October 2, 1947
The Browerville High School football team defeated the Clarissa team at Clarissa on September 18, 12-6, with Monnie and Larry Ostrowski scoring the two touchdowns. Monnie made a run from the 30-yard line in the first quarter. Larry intercepted a pass on the 40-yard line and went all the way to make the score 12-0. Clarissa didn’t score until the last two minutes of play.

PFC. James P. McDonald left for Atlanta, Georgia, Tuesday for further assignment after spending a 30-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James McDonald.
