25 Years Ago

November 13, 1997

Todd County Sheriff Dave Kircher displayed $8500 worth of methamphetamine confiscated in Long Prairie by agents from the Minnesota West Central Drug Task Force including agents from the DEA, BCA, sheriff’s department and Long Prairie Police Department. The arrest came Wednesday after a lengthy investigation during which agents purchased drugs from the suspects. Four adults and one juvenile were arrested.

Betty Masoner was presented with a Distinguished Service Award for the students for their outstanding Veterans Day performances. Presenting the award on behalf of Kenneth Magloughlin, Department Commandant State of Minnesota of the Marine Core League was John Parker. State Adjutant General Andreotti congratulated Masoner.


75 Years Ago

November 13, 1947

An independent basketball team under the management of Glen Anderson, a local high school instructor, was founded here and will play in the Wadena District Independent Basketball Association. Being in the southern half of the district the locals will meet teams from Alexandria, Osakis, Parkers Prairie, Henning, Bertha, Long Prairie and Swanville.

Superintendent A.S. Blenkush of the local high school has been named as chairman of the Sister Elizabeth Kenny Institute Fund Drive for Browerville, with Mrs. Asa R. Murphy as co-chairman.
