25 Years Ago

November 27, 1997

With the bounty of the harvest spread before them, alter boys Nate Pachan and Josh Johnson served with honored guest Bishop Kinney from the St. Cloud Diocese with mass on Monday. After services, the Bishop was able to visit with classes and enjoyed lunch with the students.

Robert Schaefer was getting ready to cook 500 pounds of fresh lutefisk for the Zion meatball and lutefisk dinner on Saturday. Robert explained, “Either you like it or you don’t. Those that do will eat over a pound.” Robert said he will cook the fish in small batches so that it is always fresh and hot. “It only takes about three minutes to cook a five-pound batch and we will serve it with butter, salt and pepper.” Robert brought the fresh Norwegian cod from Mike’s Seafood in Glenwood and it was never frozen.

75 Years Ago

November 27, 1947

A total of 9497 Todd County people have been x-rayed by the mobile unit since it entered the county on Monday, October 14, Miss Mraz, the county nurse said. That tabulation included all unit appointments from Browerville last Friday but did not include the x-rays taken at Round Prairie or Little Sauk. The unit had to leave Browerville early last Friday and will be back again for another set of appointments.

Official notices have been mailed to the stockholders, announcing the 13th annual stockholders meeting of the Fergus Falls Production Credit Assn., to be held in two sections. The first will be at the Son’s of Norway Hall in Fergus Falls, the second at the Memorial Stadium in Wadena on Saturday, December 6. In addition to reports of the Board of Directors and various committees, the stockholders will be presented reports showing that the association did over $900,000 worth of business during the past year.
