25 Years Ago

December 11, 1997

Bids were awarded for the design, manufacture and installation of recycling equipment at the transfer station. A multi-material sorting system was awarded to Indoff for $121,459. A baler and conveyor will be purchased from Recovery Systems for $46,077. Solid Waste Administrator Tom Sand said the equipment will be installed in late February or early March. He said Todd County DAC employees will do the sorting while county employees will do the baling.

The Browerville VFW Post #8391 and Auxiliary sponsored an Americanism Contest. The winners were: “Draw and Color the American Flag” (kindergarten-2nd grade), first place Kelsey Kircher, second place Greta Brown and third Craig Motzko. Poster of the “Liberty Bell” (third and fourth grades), first place Kelly Crosby and second place Tracy Hoelscher. Essay “My Hero in American History” (fifth and sixth grades), first place Dani Wiersgalla and second place Shane Broquist.


75 Years Ago

December 11, 1947

Basketball fans in Browerville witnessed one of the fastest games ever played in the Paderewski Hall when the local independents met Long Prairie last Wednesday night. Browerville remained scoreless in the first quarter while the visitors tallied 13 points.
