Scott Current of Browerville started driving for F & A Cheese of Bertha while still in high school. In the past 20 years, he has also driven a milk truck for Mid-Am, Land O’ Lakes and most recently Tri-State Milk Cooperative. Last October, when Tri-State merged with Swiss Valley Farms of Davenport, Iowa, Scott’s milk truck took on the new logo. Scott grew up on a Bertha area farm, his father Dale milked cows before becoming a dairy company field representative, while his mother, Joann, is a DHIA supervisor.

Mitch Becker is currently ranked first in the state at 152 pounds this year. Mitch placed third as a junior in 1997. So far this year, he has improved his career record. He is undefeated with a 25-0 record. He has a career record of 132 wins and 40 losses, which is currently fifth on the all-time list of Tigers wrestlers.

Fern Howe, a 22-year-old mother who spent six months in a respirator after being stricken with polio during the record epidemic of 1946, had made virtually a record recovery and once again she can pitch horseshoes with the best of them. Her recovery marks a happy ending to the most expensive case on the books of the Hennepin County chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis in Minnesota, which spent $7519 in March of Dimes funds for Fern’s treatment.

Dr. Albert J. Lenarz of Browerville attended a three-day course in cancer control at the University of Minnesota Center for Continuation Study from January 19-21. Faculty for the course included outstanding staff members of the university medical school who engaged in cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment and personnel from the American Cancer Society.
