25 Years Ago

March 12, 1998

Jack Dressen of Browerville has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Club International Foundation in recognition of his commitment to serving the world community. Melvin Jones was the founder of the Lions Club International. The fellowship is the foundation’s highest honor. It is a recognition of a commitment to humanitarian service. Jack is a member of the Browerville Lions Club. He recently received a finely crafted plaque and lapel pin acknowledging his dedication to the foundation’s humanitarian goals.

The Browerville High School agriculture program recently received a donation from the Land O’ Lakes Foundation to purchase a welder and to support the program’s school to work program. The T.I.G. (Tungsten Inert Gas) welder allows students to weld stainless steel and aluminum. Welding these materials is virtually required for students to be employable in this field.


75 Years Ago

March 11, 1948

The Browerville Commercial Club will hold its first dinner meeting of the year at the Qualitee Inn on Thursday evening, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. Over 50 members are expected to be present.

About four hundred patrons, stockholders and friends of the Browerville Farmers Cooperative Creamery attended the annual creamery meeting held at St. Peter’s Hall last Thursday to hear the report on the last year’s business of the big institution. The report, issued by Secretary John Gmyreck, showed that the sale of dairy products by patrons of the Browerville Creamery had yielded them an income of over one-half million dollars for the rest of the year as compared with $582,847 for 1946 and $204,756 in 1943.
