Chuck Jesinoski recently retired from his firefighting duties after serving 14 years on the Browerville Volunteer Fire Department during his years of active service.

Joni Myer is a sixth-grade student at Christ the King School in Browerville. She spent a few days at the State Capitol in St. Paul learning firsthand about the legislative process and working with State Representative Mary Ellen Otremba. Members of Joni’s family brought her to St. Paul. Pictured are Carrie, Otremba, Angela, Joni, Dominic and their mother Sue Myer.

How are they gonna keep him down on the farm after he’s seen Randolph AFB? As far as Pfc. Joseph J. Bednarz is concerned, they’re not. He likes his job as a clerk for the School of Aviation Medicine and plans to make a career of the Air Force. Pfc. Bednarz graduated in May of 1946 from the high school in his hometown of Browerville, where he earned three letters each in baseball and football. Then he went back to work on the farm. But in March of 1947, he ditched the plow and hitched his wagon to a star in the wild blue yonder by signing up with the Air Force in Long Prairie.

A total of 287 local voters visited the polls at the Browerville High School on Monday evening and cast ballots on the proposed $40,000 bond issue to be used in the construction of a gymnasium-auditorium and much-needed added classroom facilities at the public school. The bond issue passed by a vote of 235 for and 52 against.
