In 1898, Father Urvaneck was doing mission work in this area and was able to have the farmers build a church. The church was completed in 1899 and had a wood frame building, no basement or choir loft and was named St. Isidore, after the patron saint of farmers. Parish families donated the wood for the parlor stove which was centrally located in the original church and offered warmth to those attending services.

The amateur night program and band concert at the city park last Saturday night was well attended. The high school band rendered several musical numbers which were well received. Little Pamela Holler, acrobat, received first prize and lots of cheers. Larry Dahlman sang a very good solo and was awarded second place; a tie for third place was split between Mr. and Mrs. John Roll, duet and guitar, and Jane Lenarz, solo. The judges had a very hard time picking the winners.
